LeaF

The Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance and the Coffs Coast Regional Science Hub presents the LeaF Festival, a rich and exciting array of eco-learning workshops, facilitated by passionate local presenters as part of the Bello Winter Music Festival. BSLA Member groups are invited to submit workshops to the festival.

Mission

The Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance is a Shire wide alliance working collectively and independently to create a culture of lifelong learning for sustainability and ecological balance.

Aims

– To create a strong platform for the gathering and sharing of resources and skills.
– To develop into a recognised leader in education and action for sustainability.
– To foster the emergence and growth of a green economy
– To encourage and build an emotional home for change-makers.

Objectives

We will create a strong platform for the gathering and sharing of resources and skills by:
– Establishing a physical administrative home base, where local sustainability projects are profiled
– Creating resilient and effective working relationships within the Alliance
– Continuing to build a culture of inclusivity and diversity
– Creating an independent resource stream to support our work

We will develop into a recognised leader in education and action for sustainability by:
– Sharing our knowledge and actions locally, nationally and globally
– Attracting people to the Shire to learn about sustainability

We will foster the emergence and growth of a green economy by:
– Creating a culture of localisation in our Shire
Promoting the continuation of the “greening” of Shire businesses
– Attracting, establishing, and promoting “green” business in the Shire
– Create meaningful work for Alliance members

We will encourage and build an emotional home for change-makers by:
– Creating a community of like-minded, skilled, aware people who are committed to learning for change
– Establishing a physical hub that offers a nurturing and safe space
– Offering opportunities for strengthening emotional personal community resilience.
