Bellingen’s Seedy Underworld Tour – December
December 2 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm -
Embark on a voyage of discovery as we delve into the seedy underworld of Bellingens back alleys, parks and pathways. We’ll be spending some quality time with some shady garden folk, the rascals of the plant world, the garden scallywags. The weeds!
Much maligned and mistreated, we will reflect back to kinder times when these outcasts once walked hand in hand with humans. Long we have tried to separate ourselves from the weeds, thinking ourselves better than them. Really though our stories are deeply entwined, with a long, rich and at times dark history. Once many of these misunderstood plants provided us with food, shelter, clothing and medicine. Now we can hardly stand to look at them.
Take a little time, open your heart and mind and join us for a weedy wander to get to know the truth about these incredibly useful and resourceful plants.
We will spend a morning together wandering Bellingen, foraging, tasting and learning as we go. We will take a look at some simple plant identification, aquainting ourselves personally with some of the weeds and learn how they can benefit us as foods and medicine. To round out our morning of adventure we will reforge old alliances and prepare some weedy fare, a nice warm cup of weedy tea and whip up some, you guessed it, weedy medicine.
- Meet in the park on the North side of Lavenders Bridge where our wander will begin (and end!)
- Bring a hat/umbrella, notebook and drink bottle. Wear some comfortable shoes for walking.
- If you have any specific dietary requirements please let us know when booking so we can cater for everyone.
$55 per person…includes the mornings adventures and lunch.
