Bellingen Youth Hub Bouldering Wall

Bellingen Youth Hub Bouldering Wall

The Bellingen Shire Youth Hub is an innovative place to foster positive outcomes for young people by providing access to programs, services, activities and resources that support their wellbeing. Situated downstairs at the Hub, the Boulder Hub new wall is another amazing example of what community initiative and collaboration can achieve. After the original vision come from some local lads, the Bellingen Mentor Group, Bellingen Youth Hub and ETC got behind the idea and supported with seed funding and project management. From there, the project went from strength to strength bringing in more and more supporters as well as local organisations including Climbing Anchors, Bellingen Shire Council, CEL, schools and the Bellingen Shire Youth Services among others. It is managed and supported by local volunteers. Organisationally, the Bellingen Mentor Group is auspicing the project and operationally it is supported by the Bello Youth HUB. The wall is open to individuals, families, youth and even groups. Note all young people under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Phone 02 6655 0381 for more info.

Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance

Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance

CEL is a lead member of the Bellingen Shire Learning Alliance (BSLA), a loosely affiliated network of 15 local organisations based in the Bellingen Shire.

This Shire-wide network works to collectively and independently to create a culture of lifelong learning for sustainability and ecological balance.

The BSLA has worked hard to bring “The Stables/Bellingen Sustainability Centre” to the community. The Stables acts as an admin hub and a co-working space for groups and individuals, by providing a space for a social enterprise approach to co-working, sharing information, and collaboration.

The Bellingen Sustainability Centre is home to the BSLA. CEL undertakes the administrative work associated with the network.

Bellingen High School Community Garden

Bellingen High School Community Garden

Bellingen High School is located in the Bellingen Valley and draws students from a number of small, scattered and diverse rural communities. A significant number of students are from self-contained multiple occupancy communities and their contributions enrich the school’s ethos.

Bellingen High School Community Garden was established in 2011. The Garden currently partners with CEL on our Dig‘n’Dine project and in the past, has partnered on the Food4LYF Project.

Jalligirr Alliance

Jalligirr Alliance

CEL has become the 20th partner organisation of Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance - an alliance of conservation organisations dedicated to connecting landscapes and communities.

The Alliance has been established to support the voluntary contributions of organisations, landholders and community and Aboriginal community, to improve and protect the biodiversity of the diverse landscapes between the Dorrigo Plateau, the hinterland and the coastal plains of the mid north coast of New South Wales.

Alliance partners understand and value the vital contributions that Aboriginal communities can make to ensure resilient landscapes are realised, considering the Cultural attachments to those landscapes. Additionally the Alliance recognises that Aboriginal communities have continued attachments to the landscapes and encourages Aboriginal businesses in the Natural Resource Management regime.
