The Future is
YAP have been working towards a ban on single use plastic bags in NSW for a while now and are surprised that NSW is the only state in Australia not to have a ban! So, they are planning a camp to reinvigorate this issue and encourage action from young people across the state to work towards a future that is fantastic – not plastic!
The camp will run for 4 days from May 17-20 and is open to young people (15 – 20 y.o) across NSW who are interested in working with other young people towards a plastic free future – a ban on single use plastic bags is our first step.
The camp is inspired by Bellingen EYE
camps and has a strong youth-led, adult guided focus. Participants will learn new bush skills, teamwork skills and campaign skills to help them plan a campaign for a ban a plastic bags when they get back to their home towns. The camp will be held at Cascade Environmental Education Centre
and its beautiful surrounds, which will provide plenty of opportunity to have fun with like-minded young people, reconnect with the bush and remember why its worth saving. Accomodation in dormitories and camping.
will bring their skills along to share with participants and there will be plenty of opportunity to get to know other young people who care for nature as much as you do. Activities include games to build your nature awareness skills, eco-crafts, bush cooking, and campaign skills.
