Growing up and exploring her native Peru, Karina developed an early passion for nature and cultural diversity.
Karina has been working in the travel and tourism industry for the last 9 years, where her primary focus has been ecotourism, conservation and coordinating volunteer programs.
After finishing her studies, she specialized her training to become a qualified naturalist guide at the Amazon basin. During this time she developed her passion for birds. After 4 years in the field, she decided to move behind the scenes and worked in operations, reservations and marketing.
An opportunity to work for an Australian travel company brought her to Australia 3 years ago where her passion for nature was re-ignited and her love for sharing the outdoors with others is now a reality. She recently joined the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service as Discovery ranger and she co-mentoring The Young Naturalist Club in Bellingen and EYE youth camps.
She is currently studying a BA in Applied Science in Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism at Charles Sturt University.
Karina also has an artistic side, which has taken her to give environmental education classes to children, combining art and nature awareness. She spends her days birding, crafting and living an active and healthy lifestyle.
